PEDRO BENEVIDES

Woodbridge - Ward 2

Candidate

A Strong Voice for

Our Community

For more than 50 years, I have proudly called Canada home. As the son of Portuguese immigrants, I was raised with the values of hard work, respect, community, and giving back. Those values have guided me throughout my life, career, and involvement in our community.

I have spent years building relationships throughout Woodbridge, listening to residents, supporting local businesses, and advocating for stronger neighbourhoods. Through these experiences, I have seen firsthand the issues that matter most to our community and the importance of having a representative who listens and takes action.

Today, I am putting my name forward to serve as Ward 2 Councillor because I believe residents deserve strong representation, practical solutions, and a councillor who is accessible, accountable, and committed to putting people first. I believe City Hall should work for the people, and I am dedicated to bringing responsible leadership, transparency, and practical solutions to Ward 2.

My approach is rooted in listening, collaboration, and creating positive change. I truly believe that every voice matters, and I am here to support, advocate for, and work alongside residents to build an even stronger community for everyone.

A Career Built on Experience

Over the course of my professional career, I have worked across a variety of industries, gaining firsthand experience in business, finance, logistics, transportation, construction, and entrepreneurship.

I began my career in the banking sector before moving into the precious metals and foreign exchange industry. I later became a Managing Director for a company owned by one of Canada's most successful business families, providing precious metals and currency services to the jewelry industry.

While working in banking, I pursued business studies through the University of Toronto and the Institute of Canadian Bankers, strengthening my understanding of finance, management, and economic development.

Entrepreneur and Business Owner

Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, I eventually launched my own business supplying precious metals and refining services to the jewelry industry.

At the same time, I operated an electronics recycling facility in Montreal, helping organizations safely dispose of, recycle, and repurpose computer systems and electronic equipment.

My clients included major financial institutions, utility providers, government agencies, and large organizations across Canada. This experience taught me the importance of accountability, efficiency, customer service, and responsible management of resources.

Overcoming Challenges

Like many people, my life has not been without challenges.

Following significant personal changes, I chose to close my businesses and begin a new chapter. I worked in transportation and construction, operating a variety of heavy vehicles and equipment.

A workplace injury eventually left me unable to continue in that field. Rather than giving up, I returned to school and earned a diploma in Supply Chain Management. Ultimately, I decided to retire.

These experiences gave me a deeper appreciation for the challenges faced by workers, families, seniors, and individuals navigating unexpected setbacks.

Community, Family, and Rural Life

In recent years, I have focused on spending more time with family, helping care for a family farm, and pursuing beekeeping.

These experiences have strengthened my connection to the environment, local agriculture, and the importance of preserving the character of our communities while planning responsibly for the future.

Why I'm Running for Ward 2

I am running for Ward 2 Councillor because I believe our residents deserve a stronger voice at City Hall.

I have heard concerns from neighbours about municipal inefficiencies, rising costs, infrastructure issues, traffic, development, and the need for greater transparency and accountability in local government.

I am not a career politician. I am a resident, business owner, worker, and community member who has spent a lifetime solving problems, managing budgets, and working with people from all walks of life.

My commitment is simple: to listen, to work hard, and to put the interests of Ward 2 residents first.

Together, we can build a more responsive, accountable, and vibrant future for our community.
